The Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP) is accepting applications through Friday, June 29. The Texas Armed Services Scholarship was created by the Texas Legislature to encourage students to participate in Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs at Texas colleges and provides select students with up to four years of scholarship awards.
Students who wish to apply must enter into an agreement requiring a four year commitment as a member of the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, Texas State Guard, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Merchant Marine, or a fully-commissioned officer in any branch of the armed services of the United States.
Additionally, interested applicants must meet two (2) out of the following four (4) academic criteria to qualify:
Be on track to graduate, or has graduated high school, and complete the curriculum requirements of the Distinguished Level of Achievement Plan [NOTE: HSAC graduation plans default to DLA Plans; see your Counselor for details or questions about graduation plans];
Have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale [either weighted or unweighted, whichever is better];
Achieve a college readiness score on the SAT (1070) or ACT (23); or,
Be ranked in the top one-third of the prospective high school graduating class.
Non-freshman college students can apply for the scholarship if they:
Maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by the institution of in which the student is enrolled;
Continue to be a member of a ROTC program; and
Have not earned a baccalaureate degree or a cumulative total of 150 credit hours, including transferred hours.

Students must be appointed by the governor, lieutenant governor, state senator or state representative;
enroll in a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) or another undergraduate officer commissioning program while enrolled in the institution, as certified by the institution;
complete school initiated TASSP application by Oct. 15, 2018;
agree to complete four years of ROTC training or the equivalent of four years of ROTC training if the institution awards ROTC credit for prior service in any branch of the U.S. Armed Services or the Texas Armed National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, Texas State Guard, United States Coast Guard, or United States Merchant Marine, or another undergraduate officer commissioning program;
graduate no later than six years after the date first enrolled;
after graduation, enter into a four year commitment to be a member of the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, Texas State Guard, United States Coast Guard, or United States Merchant Marine; or
contract to serve as a commissioned officer in any branch of the armed services of the United States;
repay the scholarship if the requirements are not met;
meet the satisfactory academic progress requirements set by the institution.
Continued Eligibility Requirements:
To maintain eligibility for future awards, the student must:
maintain satisfactory academic progress;
continue to be a member of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC);
not have earned a baccalaureate degree or completed a cumulative total 150 hours.
How Much Can Be Awarded?
The amount of the award will be the lesser of
an amount not to exceed the student’s cost of attendance less the total amount to be paid to a student for that academic year for being under contract with one of the branches of the armed services of the United States and other financial assistance.
A student may receive a scholarship for four of the six years allowed for graduation.
A scholarship will become a loan if the student fails to:
maintain satisfactory academic progress;
fulfill any of the terms of the scholarship;
fulfill a four-year commitment to be a member of the Texas Army National Guard, Texas State Guard, United States Coast Guard, or United States Merchant Marine; or
contract to serve as a commissioned officer in any branch of the armed services of the United States.
How Can I Apply?
You will need to be selected by a Texas senator or representative or the lieutenant governor or governor. If you are interested in this program and you feel you meet the program requirements, you should contact your legislator for more information.

We invite all parents, students, staff and other community stakeholders to attend Harmony Public Schools-DFW/Waco District Wellness Policy meeting. We will review our current District Wellness Policy (located on each campus website) and the guidelines set forth in the HPS board approved Wellness Plan (available on each campus website) in regards to nutrition education, Smart Snack Guidelines, fundraisers, exemptions, classroom parties, etc. If you are interested in joining, no RSVP is necessary and we look forward to your attendance. everything that the Class of 2019 Junior Council (soon to be the Senior Council!) is doing for
graduation. Due to the logistics of graduation and lack of funding, every student must help to
pay for the graduation ceremony event.
As the year draws to an end, we are running low on supplies to help your students stay focused and productive in the classroom. One of the items we are currently in need of is tissues for the classrooms. Please consider assisting us with this, as it is allergy season and the need is great, by donating boxes of tissues. These can be sent with your student, or dropped by you at our front office.

This past Saturday, 04/07/18, we held our First Annual STEAM Festival (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics!) here at H.S.A. Carrollton! We had our biggest turnout ever for a STEM Fair, and our students, faculty, and parents all had a great time. Our interesting STEAM-oriented exhibits in Chemistry, Physics/Engineering, Biology/Biomedical, and Robotics all had visually interesting displays, we had our usual pyrotechnics (both planned and, shall we say, surprising!), the Biomedical section impressed everyone, and the latest robots and drones were a big hit with everyone. The Food Festival did very well, everyone had plenty to eat, and our student organizations succeeded well with fund raising. And, for a first-time-ever tradition, we had two performing arts events on-stage with the Harmony Voices and the Middle School Drama Club! Our heart-felt thanks to everyone who came out, it was a great time for all, and we are already planning on the STEAM Festival 2019!!
