Purpose: 

• Math Club only open to MS students (grades 6-8) and is an enrichment opportunity for students who excel and/or are interested in high level math.
• Solid mental math and logical thinking skills are required - students will need to complete a screening test to gauge suitability for the club.
• In Semester 2, all Math Club students will compete in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 8, and the school MathCounts team will be selected from the members to represent the school at UT Dallas.
• Meets on Wednesday & Thursday each week and both sessions are mandatory.
• Students may be offered community engagement opportunities to help elementary grade level students at HSI with math.

Purpose: 

Service Leadership Society (SLS) is a club for students to explore meaningful public policy topics, conduct research, form opinions, and develop a “bill” to address the selected public policy issue. Throughout the bill design process, students will learn the intricacies of Texas’ legislative process including how a bill becomes law. During the year, SLS clubs gather for a state conference to present bill drafts to their peers and have the opportunity to debate and vote on all bills.
